Mykonos in short - Key Attractions

About Mykonos

Mykonos Island is in our opinion one of the most beautiful of Cycladic Islands. Mainly due to fantastic weather, excellent golden sandy beaches, typical Cycladic architecture and excellent air links with the United Kingdom and other European states (easyJet flies here) it has became a very popular tourist destination.

Mykonos has a lot to offer for tourist looking for relaxing holiday in the sun. If you are bored with fantastic golden sandy beaches of Agios Stefanos, Psarou, Kalafatis, Platis Gialos, Paradise and Super Paradise, Ornos, Elia or Panormos you may decide to spend some time and visit charming capital – Hora. In the town you can walk through countless narrow white washed lanes and enjoy fantastic international atmosphere. A true labyrinth of lanes was initially designed to confuse pirates invading the island - we have to admit that it works perfectly well even nowadays. If you have a bit of free time it is really worthwhile to explore those narrow streets.

Hora is full of small but impressive churches, pretty little tavernas and shops selling souvenirs and other goods. If you enjoy photography we would recommend that you could visit one of the most picturesque parts of Hora called informally as a ‘little Venice’ – real name Alefkandra. It is really interesting to see the medieval white houses which stand like a wall above the sea protecting the west side of Hora.

Few points worth considering

If you like good food we would recommend that you go for a dinner to Babulas Taverna to try its speciality – octopus dried in the sun! It is really delicious. Babulas taverna is located on the path from the ferry port – look for red boat on the pavement (see photos).

‘Little Venice’ offers a number of fantastic bars and restaurants where you may sit on the balcony in one of the medieval buildings (forming the wall above the sea protecting the west side of Hora) and enjoy the view, sea waves and delicious local cuisine – really fantastic atmosphere.
