Chebika and Tamerza both mountain oases lie in relatively close proximity from each other - about 20 minutes drive and in a short distance to the border with Algeria.
If you are planning to visit Tozeur and Chott el-Jerid we would definitively recommend that you reserve couple of hours and add both oases to your itinerary. Both places are very picturesque and offer very pleasant relief from scorching Tunisian sun. In both oases you will find a couple of nice but not too large waterfalls.
The original town of Tamerza (Tamaghza) was destroyed by the flood in 1969 - it is really incredible considering that Tamerza is located in a close proximity to the Sahara Desert.
